Francisco Núñez Martinez

Francisco was born in Güines, Cuba on January 12th, 1963. Characterized by his strong, vibrant brushwork and compelling portraits, Francisco Núñez Martinez is a steadfast fixture of the contemporary Cuban art scene. His work often features prominent Afro-Cuban cultural figures caught in striking moments of emotional dissonance. Born in Güines, Cuba on January 12th, 1963, Francisco graduated from the National School of Art (ENA) in 1981 and from the Fernando Carnicer Elementary School of Music in 1986. He is a member of the UNEAC (The National Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba) and worked as a teacher of painting and drawing for 17 years. He has been registered in the Creator’s Registry as an independent artist since 1988 and has participated in numerous personal and group exhibitions, auctions, and fairs with national and international mentions and awards throughout Cuba, the United States, Canada, Germany, Spain, and Switzerland. He currently works and resides in Havana, Cuba.
